Richard J. Schaefer Named PRIDE Owner Co-Chairman

ST. LOUIS – Richard J. Schaefer has been named owner co-chairman of PRIDE of St. Louis, Inc., the nation’s first and oldest voluntary construction industry labor-management organization. He joins Gerald T. Feldhaus, labor co-chairman, representing the St. Louis Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO and Scott Wilson, management co-chair. Schaefer replaces Joseph W. Rinke, who recently completed nine years of volunteer service as PRIDE’s first owner co-chairman.

PRIDE, founded in 1972, is an acronym for Productivity and Responsibility Increase Development & Employment. For more than 30 years, PRIDE has worked to maintain harmony and build cooperation among St. Louis area AFL-CIO construction craft workers, contractors, construction buyers, architects, engineers and suppliers.

Schaefer has worked in the construction industry since 1977. He is currently the director of design and construction for Washington University School of Medicine, where he oversees all construction projects at the school. He is a member of the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers and is currently on the PRIDE board.
