Carol M. Schmidt Named PRIDE Owner Co-Chairman

ST. LOUISCarol M. Schmidt, director of capital projects for Metro, has been named owner co-chair of PRIDE of St. Louis, Inc., the nation's first and oldest voluntary construction industry labor-management organization. She joins Gerald T. Feldhaus, labor co-chair, representing the St. Louis Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO and Jim Frey, management co-chair. Schmidt replaces Richard J. Schaefer, who recently completed four years of volunteer service as PRIDE's owner co-chair.

As PRIDE owner co-chair, Schmidt represents the buyers of construction in advancing PRIDE's mission of making St. Louis the best place to build.

PRIDE, founded in 1972, is an acronym for Productivity and Responsibility Increase Development & Employment. For more than 35 years, PRIDE has worked to maintain harmony and build cooperation among St. Louis area AFL-CIO construction craft workers, contractors, construction buyers, architects, engineers and suppliers.

Schmidt has worked in the construction industry since 1983. As director of capital projects for Metro, she oversees projects from conceptual design through construction and commissioning. She is a member of the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers and the University City Historic Preservation Committee.
